Private Collections - SLA

a close up of a bottle of wine

The NYS Liquor Authority is no longer considering a proposal to enact restrictions on restaurants that purchase rare and hard to find wines from private collectors. The NYC Hospitality Alliance and all our members who rely on purchasing certain exclusive wines from private collectors as contemplated by the State legislature are appreciative of the SLA's process in listening to our stated concerns. We commend the SLA for addressing the concerns of The Alliance by no longer considering this proposal which would have significantly reduced the ability of NYC restaurants to continue to buy and serve incredible wines from around the world. Thank you to all of our members who responded to our survey asking how this proposal would negatively impact your businesses and for sharing you concerns with the SLA too. Your participation helped us successfully address this important issue. If at any point the SLA reconsiders this proposal, The Alliance will let our members know. Self-Certification of Liquor Licenses: Successfully advocated to extend the successful State Liquor Authority Attorney Self Certification pilot program which sped up the process in which businesses apply for a Liquor License.
