Business Interruption Insurance (Covid-19 Policy)

Times Square graphical user interface, website

The NYC Hospitality Alliance successfully worked alongside attorneys and other trade groups to introduce a business interruption legislation in congress. If enacted into law, this bill would help countless businesses that closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic by creating a program that would have the federal government reimburse insurers who voluntarily pay out business interruption claims. We have also filed an amicus brief with others in a court case to help right the wrongs restaurants and nightlife establishments have endured over the past year—wrongs that have been exacerbated due to insurers’ malfeasance in efforts to hold insurers accountable and compel them to provide such businesses with the business interruption insurance benefits they are rightfully due.
